Who we are
Midwife Andy
Midwife Andy (she/her/hers) has been involved in the birth world for more than 15 years, though her journey into midwifery has been lifelong. She was raised on a small farm in King County where she learned early on the value of dedication, developed a strong work ethic, and a profound respect for Mother Nature. As a child she experienced birth in various ways while helping to care for the animals, and grew to develop an intuitive passion for birth.
As an out-of-hospital consumer herself, Midwife Andy feels passionately about evidence based choice in relationship to the birth setting, and is a fierce advocate for you and your growing family.
As a Bastyr University graduate, where she obtained her Master’s of Science in Midwifery, she is highly qualified to care for your growing family in a low-risk setting. She is dually licensed as both a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife, graduated with her Clinical Herbalist Certificate and is an adjunct professor in Bastyr University’s Midwifery Department. Student involved care is very important to her, as she often remembers her time as a student fondly. She is actively involved in the WA state Smooth Transitions Program to help coordinate efforts to improve outcomes in the event of an emergent or non-emergent transfer of care and fiercely advocates for continuity of care even in the hospital setting.
The name Magnolias was established in her 1st year of midwifery school to honor the life and legacy of her faithful companion Magnolia, who sadly passed away the year after she graduated midwifery school but was by her side through it all, much like her family.

Student Midwife Micaela
Student Midwife Micaela (she/her/hers) is currently in her 2nd year at Bastyr University’s Midwifery program and is on track to obtain her Master’s degree. She is currently assisting in clinic and at births under the direct supervision of Midwife Andy.
She is a fiercely dedicated and accomplished student, with a strong passion for person-centered care and holistic approaches to childbirth. She is committed to integrating evidence-based practices with cultural and spiritual considerations to support birthing people in making informed decisions about their care. Her interest in midwifery is deeply personal, inspired by her mother’s birth experience, which motivates her to advocate deeply for birth givers without partners or foundational support systems.
Micaela has actively engaged in volunteer work at local hospitals’ postpartum wards and NICU’s, and participates in community advocacy efforts supporting equitable maternity care. She is particularly interested in creating community-based education programs and hopes to one day open a free-standing birth center in her hometown, Tacoma WA, to foster connection and inclusivity for all that enter.
Micaela approaches her practice with dedication, empathy, reflection, commitment, and a warm cup of tea.
